Putting the Savage(Worlds) in our Heroes: Willow Rosenberg
What is this: Savage worlds claims to be a universal system. Usable for everything. With this series I plan to look to see if this is the case, and look at some of my favorite characters. Today I’m going to look at Willow Rosenberg, from the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Also SPOILER WARNING.

Remember: You can use this in your savage worlds game. I’m not going to hurt you if you change this, in fact I encourage it. Follow along with your Savage Worlds Explorers Edition.
Who is Willow: A geek, a techie, a witch, and a lesbian. Willow has had her ups and downs, but in her best moments she is a powerful witch and an important friend of Buffy’s. She has a slightly spazzy personality, and is completely open about her sexuality.
Main Stats:

Agility: d6
Smarts: d12
Spirit: d8
Strength: d4
Vigor: d4
Explanation: Willow’s stats were simple, her physical stats are low, and her smarts and spirit are high. I made Spirit lower than Buffy or Xanders because of her addiction to magic. Smarts fits Willow as she is the most bookish of the group, and Smarts is the main stat for magic in SW, so it all fits nicely.
Skills(I’m only writing down trained skills):

Fighting: d4
investigation: d8
Knowledge
(occult): d8
Spellcasting: d12
Notice: d4
Persuasion: d4
Shooting:d6
Explanation: Willow has the least amount of skills, but has one of the highest single skills in Spellcasing d12. I gave her a boost in the knowledge(occult), and investigation skills to reflect her ability to find the weaknesses of the various monsters they would fight.

Derived Stats:
Pace: 6
Parry: 4
Toughness: 4
Charisma: 0
Explanation: See below(and above!), they are derived after all…

Hindrances:
Habbit(major): This wasn’t a problem before season 6, but after that Willow has basically created a dependency on magic.
Loyal(minor): Buffy won’t abandon her friends, Willow is the same.
Outsider(minor): Willow is an outsider in high school, and in that she is a lesbian.

Edges:
Arcane Background(Magic)
Wizard: This allows her to have a bit more of staying power by letting her gain power points back when she raises on spells, which with a d12 spellcasting is going to happen a lot.
Power Surge: Same idea as wizard, but this one gives her power points when she draws a joker in initiative.
New Power x3
Power Points x5
Spells:
Bolt: A basic attack for Willow.
Boost/Lower Trait: This would allow her to boost Buffy like she did in a few episodes.
Dispel: Would allow her to counter other wicans like she did a few times.
Detect/Conceal Arcana
Stun
Telekinesis: Willows bread and butter.
Gear:
Stake: Str +d4 – except kills vampires on a blow to the heart.
Crossbow:As per the rules.
dfg
Rank: Veteran(55 xp)-
Furthermore I could have given Willow every spell in the book, but that would be impractical. I tried to give her the spells I remember her using the most. Savage worlds doesn’t really have a ritual system, but I would house rule it.
When you do a spell in ritual form, the cost in power points is either halved or removed entirely. Of course some spells I would make only usable in ritual, and some only as non-ritualistic.
